WHITE TRUFFLE
White truffles are prized for their color, exquisite flavor, and intense aroma, which enrich the dishes they garnish. The finest quality is harvested in the autumn in the forests of Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero in Piedmont.
San Damiano celebrates the truffle on the first Sunday of November. In October, November, and December, you can book a simulated truffle hunt accompanied by real truffle hunters and their hounds.

The product can be purchased at the stands present at the National Truffle Fair which takes place in November, or by contacting the Sandamianesi Truffle Hunters Association.
SANDAMIANESI
Small sweets with a heart of cream, chocolate and hazelnuts, enclosed in a wafer made with hazelnuts, sugar, cocoa and egg white.
They're available in classic, hazelnut, and rum-flavored versions. You can enjoy and purchase them at pastry shops around the city.

CAPON
The capon - once raised on almost all Piedmontese farms - is a male chicken that is castrated to increase its weight and tenderness.
This animal is raised in compliance with European regulations, which require a rearing period of no less than 140 days, castration 70 days after slaughter, and a diet primarily based on cereals.
The San Damiano capon has been recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies as a traditional Italian agri-food product.
Capon is a popular Christmas treat. In San Damiano, it's celebrated on the second Sunday of December during the "Historical Capon Fair," when the delicious broth made from cooking it is served in the town square.
WHERE TO BUY IT
The capon can be purchased from farms belonging to the San Damiano Capon Protection Association, whose breeding methods follow strict regulations, making the product unique and unparalleled.

San Damiano TO Visit
Cobblestones lining the entire historic center, sequences of arches, and ancient wooden frameworks of buildings: these are just some of the features you'll find as you stroll through our city, stopping in Piazza Libertà. Here, in addition to the Town Hall, you'll find the Church of San Giuseppe, one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in Piedmont.

"The house of books," "a community place," "a cultural and social meeting place," "a space where I can study," "where I come to read with Mom and Dad," "how wonderful it is when new books arrive..." are some of the most meaningful phrases we've heard from users young and old at "our" Nosengo Library over the years.
We believe this is the best way to introduce you to this cultural center that has been:

Extracurricular educational laboratory
Furthermore, the Library Board organizes an annual writing competition (Felice Daneo), a film competition (Osvaldo Campassi) with the production of book trailers, and various meetings with local and national literary authors.
