Itineraries in San Damiano

DESCRIPTION

We will start from the headquarters of the Colline Alfieri Regional Enoteca and we will pedal with our e-bike towards the Ca' Colomba farmhouse in a path immersed in vineyards open to 360 °. Here we will have the first tasting of native wines, produced by the Franco Giacinto winery which has been working and cultivating vines with passion on these hills for years, where Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Nebbiolo and Arneis are the masters.

A few more kilometers in an enchanting naturalistic context and we will reach the Conti Nuvoli farm in Grinzane, where we will taste the excellent wines of the estate, such as the Barbera d'Asti DOCG, the flagship of the company. In this location of other times, we will also appreciate the refined and elegant environment of the Palazzo of the historic Noble Family of the Counts Nuvoli which offers a spectacular panorama.

We will resume our tour passing through the village to climb the hill on the opposite side and reach the ridge. The path continues up to the small church of San Luigi, in the village of the same name, immersed in a verdant valley. We will taste the excellent wines of the Cava dei Vini farm, accompanied by honey and hazelnuts from the Ponte Ballerine farm.

We will set off again, for the next destination, breathing in the scents of the season, which change with every meter and smell of leaves, earth and fruit until we reach the crossroads of three local wineries: Pianchè, Ferrero Ettore and Val Serra, which will offer guests the excellent wines of local production in front of a breathtaking panorama, with a 360 ° view that from the nearby village nestled in the valley goes, on sunny days, up to the crown of the Alps.

We will then return to the starting point, the Enoteca Regionale Colline Alfieri, where we will live a new tasty experience through a tasting of excellent local wines!

CURIOSITY

• During the journey we will see two of the famous big bech, the giant benches designed by Chris Bangle now widespread throughout Piedmont and beyond, once you sit on them you get the sensation of enjoying life as if we were children again".
   
• The Conti Nuvole di Grinzane farm, in addition to being an excellent winery, boasts a history that has its roots in the year 1223. We are located on the Torrazzo, a hill in San Damiano d'Asti. Here, in that year, the residence was built with the adjoining Tower of Macellengo built with bricks fired on site; to date the latter is the only visible vestige of the medieval settlement and, during our tour, we will have the opportunity to climb to its top where we can enjoy an enchanting panorama. The residence and the adjoining vineyards have been owned by the Counts Nuvoli of Grinzane for over 500 years and since 2011 they have been converted to organic cultivation. Tradition, innovation and respect for the environment come together to give life to one of the excellences of the area, the Barbera d'Asti DOCG wine.
